ABSTRACT

In this paper we look into implementing a web interface design for applications that have a database element, we look at how and to what extent we can use information (Metadata) held in system catalog tables in databases to produce a better and automated Web interface that can easily accommodate changes in the underlying data model by altering those tables, rather than requiring changes to the interface code. We use Java and particularly Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), which provides a very general method for addressing databases and also includes Metadata features.
