ABSTRACT
Archaeological fieldwork is often characterized by the need for recording information in difficult working circumstances with little time and money. In this context, 3D recording tools can be useful, but suitable techniques should be flexible and inexpensive. This article discusses the application of image-based 3D recording to archaeological fieldwork. Most of the results were obtained at the archaeological site of Sagalassos in Turkey. The same image-based approach was also used for generating virtual representations of archaeological monuments and sites and to augment videos with virtual reconstructions.
