ABSTRACT

The Cooperative Processing Facility was designed to allow cooperation between active workspaces on a host and a workstation. This facility consists of two auxiliary processors on each system. When a workstation is connected to a host system by an appropriate emulator, this facility enables an APL user on the workstation easily to develop the application giving access to the active workspace of the host APL system. A prototype was developed for APL2 and Japanese APL, and its effectiveness was verified by implementing it experimentally.
