ABSTRACT

It is widely accepted that currently evolving Electronic Funds Transfer Systems (EFTS) will revolutionize America's present system of paper checks and cash. Yet few computer system designers are focusing upon the substantial impact these communication networks will have on our economic society. The current research conducts an examination of the issues influencing and emanating from EFTS--its development, financial impact, benefits and drawbacks, supporters and resisters, and current status.
