ABSTRACT

The online help team at the Communications Design Center (CDC), funded through a contract with the U.S. Army Human Engineering Laboratory, is currently building a system to aid in the design and evaluation of online help systems. There are three components to the system:• Help Design Software to assist developers in incorporating sound design principles;• Prototype Testing System to enable developers to collect user performance data on alternative menu designs and navigation systems;• Online Help Evaluation Survey to provide developers with a hardcopy document for use in evaluating existing help systems.
