The standards factor: committee updates

ABSTRACT

This quarter's collection of committee updates is based largely on information provided by Ken Holdaway. As User Interface Standards Representative for IBM, Ken regularly travels the world to attend the meetings of JTC1/SC18/WG9 (which he chairs), ISO/TC159/SC4/WG5, HFS-HCI, ANSI X3V1.9, IEEE P1201, and CCITT. In an arena where politics often plays at least as large a role as science, Ken's diplomacy and easy-going manner help keep things running smoothly. He is always willing to share information and ideas, and for all that I'd like to say: Thanks, Ken!
