ABSTRACT

Some multicomputer networks for the implementation of the PBPE, a Parallel Backtracking Prolog Engine designed at the University of Bari, Italy, are considered. Two main subsystems, one for the management of clauses and another for interpretation of Prolog, each having its own topology, have to be connected together. An evaluation of different interconnection structures, aiming at using one single type of building block, is drawn taking into account the particular communication requirements of the PBPE. An experimental application using a variable number of transputers, linked in some of the topologies examined, is being developed.
