ABSTRACT
Computer-supported cooperative work(CSCW) technologies are being tried as part of complex projects. This paper describes a recent failed attempt at using CSCW technology by two organizations as part of a new product development project. Reasons for the failure are examined. The importance of organizational culture in the success or failure of CSCW is discussed. Approaching future research using the action research model from the organizational development field is proposed.
