ABSTRACT

Energy efficiency is finally at the center stage of computing systems research and development. Despite the recent surge in attention to the area, it is not unusual to witness situations where only some of the energy-related costs are considered, or energy efficiency is poorly defined and measured. In this talk I will discuss some of the more commonly overlooked energy-related issues, with particular focus on power provisioning and energy efficiency of large data-centers.
