ABSTRACT

Almost every few weeks there is some breaking news about some organization that has lost information via the physical loss of an unencrypted storage device. This paper reviews some alternatives for encrypting information on storage devices and how those alternatives might be used. The open source TrueCrypt system is covered is some detail. Some suggestions for information security policy guidelines are provided. From personal data to enterprise data, information security is becoming increasingly important.
