ABSTRACT
The Self-organizing Device discovery and Data transmission protocol (SDD) is a novel self-organizing link layer protocol, that was proposed for UWB impulse radio based networks. By means of simulations, it has been indicated that the SDD protocol enables a node to discover most of its neighboring nodes in short discovery time, in the mean time, appropriately avoids collisions. Further evaluations are carried out in this paper by creating a new analytical model to investigate the theoretical relations among the discovery time, the discovery ratio and the system parameters. It can be concluded that the SDD protocol is an efficient, scalable and well performed protocol
