ABSTRACT

Lectures have a negative image these days. Yet many conference sessions follow a lecture format, and anecdotal evidence suggests that may courses utilize lectures extensively. This column seeks to encourage discussions of pedagogy by identifying advantages and disadvantages of lecturing and presenting variations of the lecture format that address some of its criticisms. Please contact the author with your feedback and arguments in rebuttal!
