ABSTRACT

With the size and price of computer hardware shrinking so rapidly, it is clear that we will shortly enter an era when computers are common both in the home and as portable personal tools. This wide availability of an information processing tool will impact the informational needs of each individual, and hence will impact any information service, including the news media, bookstores, and libraries.
