ABSTRACT

The power series package recently added to SCRATCHPAD differs in a number of important ways from the truncated power series facilities provided by various other algebra systems. This note is intended to highlight and attempt to justify some of these differences, and suggest how the existing system could be extended. A more formal description of the algorithms is in preparation.
