ABSTRACT

GlobalCom is an applied project that aims to provide an internet-based unified messaging system. for the global enterprise. The need for GlobalCom arose from the requirements concerned with the development of groupware to enable a globally distributed set of users to manage a crisis. GlobaICom's core functionality includes the ability to communicate in real-time, or asynchronously, using communications means such as Chatrooms, Noticeboards, SMS messaging, Email, Telephony and Voicemail and to avail of telemetry services such as GPS location and Alarms. The project has been developed using the Java programming language to run on a single server with Oracle as the back-end database.
