ABSTRACT
To answer many and disparate needs in campus web services at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a unit of the Division of the Chief Information Officer, has developed an application that separates the strata of personnel involved in building and maintaining dynamic, high profile web sites. By separating the roles of content providers, web designers, and system programmers, each is allowed to contribute their expertise and expend their energies proficiently without unduly interrupting the work of colleagues. Most importantly, the improved work-process enabled by such technology results in much more up-to-date and relevant web-based information services. This paper discusses a locally built tool designed for this separation of roles, outlines its deployments to date, and assesses the measure of benefits it has brought both web users and developers at Rensselaer.
