ABSTRACT

This paper deals with the description and rationale for a precursor introductory survey course as the first course for Computer Science majors that was implemented at Coastal Carolina College in the Fall of 1989. The paper also examines the impact of the course on student performance in the CS1 course, as well as upper level courses throughout the Computer Science major.
